Lucy And Robin's Wedding - South Of France - 27th July 2018

A sneak peak at Lucy and Robin's big day.

...Trees scattered with oriental lanterns, festival banners flapping in the wind, the gentle sound of hens clucking, multi-coloured paper cranes fluttering in the marque, the smell of jasmine...

A calm orderly morning with bridesmaids methodically arranging beautiful coloured flowers in glass vases, Lucy writing her wedding speech, having her hair done, Jane checking on seating and umbrellas, Ed rustling up a light very French lunch of bread and cheese, a perfect morning before a wedding.

...the shuffling of seats, cold Elderflower cordial, 30 degrees, the hum of greetings and hugs, a warm greeting from Ben the officiator... a beautiful bride walking down the aisle, eyes meeting with her future husband...

A beautiful (rather warm) ceremony, rows of smiling family and friends. Lucy walked down the aisle to a harmony of guitar and recorder. I particularly liked Lucy and Robin's personalised vows, capturing their love and committment for one another but also reiterating their personal freedoms, support, guidance and understanding they promise to give one another.

...never ending canapes, parma ham, oysters, fois grois, dim sum, prawns, seabass sushi, beetroot macarons, quails eggs , paired with the Groom's homemade cocktail...

A light breeze decended as everyone sat for dinner in the marque. A marque filled with hundreds of origami cranes - a symbol for eternal love (a crane mates for life) and also an oriental link as Lucy spent years living in Hong Kong. The swathes looked perfect, coupled with the multicoloured homemade macarons and the wild, cololurful flowers.

...sharing platter, new friends meeting, old friends reminiscing, breast of quail, raspberry mousse, chattering, speeches, more laughter...

Something which has remained with me since Lucy made her speech. "People ask me, do I believe in love at first sight.. No, I don't, but from the moment I met Robin, he has intrigued me and continues to intrigue me."

What an utterly perfect thing to say.

...multi-coloured macarons resulting in multi-coloured tongues, dancing, jazz band, lanterns lit, open bar... dancing into the night... happiness.

...A husband and wife.
